racing game modification for sonic robo blast 2 by kart krew
people have complained about the tutorial and the difficulty, for me the problem is the camera.
the camera it moves so much in normal gameplay and there's so many jokes about being "karted" that you will inevitably get hit by a garden top or somebody with invinciblity and experience the tumble system giving you motion sickness. there are options for user profiles to decrease screen shake and simplify effects but you will still be subject to the camera rotation anyway. there's also a significant amount of consecutive forward and backward springs and consecutive up and down springs in many levels that cause motion sickness. just play the game less! obviously!
dr. robotnik's ring racers even removed the flipcam toggle feature. toggling flipcam off would keep your character at the bottom of the screen regardless of flipped gravity. i heard that apparently one of the developers said that it would be considered cheating. it sounds like they love making the camera move irratically.
sega themselves aren't free from these troubles either. somebody i know mentioned that the visual effects in the sonic racing crossworlds closed network test get very excessive and after watching a gameplay preview video i would agree. there's many flashing and noisy effects!
these problems are not prevalent in sonic robo blast 2 kart because the developers didn't have the systems to add the camera rotation. in levels like crimson barrage zone, slopes are just a suggestion and you can drive upright only sliding down the slope if you are perpendicular to them. additionally, if you get hit by an orbinaut or jawz or banana, you always spin out horizontally and if you get hit by a mine or fake item box or self propelled bomb, you always launch upwards vertically. in dr. robotnik's ring racers, mines and invincibility cause tumble instead and you will see them whether you want to or not.
the levels in dr. robotnik's ring racers look nice and i would like to look at them, but the camera moves too much! that's so annoying!
p.s. it's amazing that the current 1st place replay ghost for ramp park zone in power cup includes a moment of the racer falling out of bounds while rotating from a half pipe, what an incredible system.
